Event at Bren Simon’s Home Helps Build Strength, Balance, and Self-Esteem of People with Physical and Mental Disabilities
[Hidden Valley, CA] [October 22, 2013] – The Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship annual fall fundraiser, hosted by Bren Simon at her home in Rancho de Caballos in Hidden Valley, raised significant funds to support the organization and its scholarship program. Actress Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were the honorary event chairs.
Ride On teaches horseback riding to children and adults with physical and mental disabilities and provides therapies to individuals using the movement of the horse to improve specific medical conditions.
“We put disabled riders on horseback more than 7,000 times per year and we do not turn anyone away for lack of funds” explained Bryan McQueeney the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Ride On Therapeutic Horsemanship. “The event at Bren Simon’s home has raised significant funds for our scholarship program so we can continue to offer our services to all those would otherwise would not have the opportunity.”
By combining instruction in traditional horsemanship skills with concepts of physical therapy Ride On helps improve the strength, balance and self-esteem of people with physical and mental disabilities.

“Opening our home for the Ride On event every year to bring awareness and raise funds for this critical mission is a heartwarming experience for our family and the Melvin & Bren Simon Foundation” stated Bren Simon. “Ride On therapies have an immediate and beneficial impact on those with disabilities and I am honored to continue supporting them in this noble pursuit.”
Founded in 1994, Ride On has given over 75,000 safe, effective and individualized lessons and therapy treatments and currently serves 185 riders each week.
